SoLita - Didsbury | The Food Edit

Who doesn't love a date night? Especially when that date night consists of some good eats. Okay, who am I kidding? All of the date nights Gareth and I go on involve food, obviously. In particular, we love a burger. Having heard so many good things about SoLita, we had to give it a go... a decision neither of us regret!

The staff were so friendly and attentive, and we got our drinks pretty much straight away. The atmosphere was pretty relaxed, with smells of freshly smoked meats floating up my welcoming nostrils. Talk about getting the salivary glands working! Although the starters definitely tickled my fancy, I wasn't sure I could handle that much food without having to be rolled home in a wheelbarrow. So we, rather reluctantly but sensibly, skipped and went straight for the mains. With wings, hot dogs, steaks, fish and vegi options on the menu, we had plenty of choice and it all sounded amazing. In the end, after quite a while trying to decide, we each chose a burger. I ordered the Jack Daddy while Gareth ordered the aptly named Walk of Shame. We each upgraded our fries, with Gareth choosing pizza fries, and I sweet potato. I actually thought having to pay an extra 2 quid on top was a little over the top, but not enough to put me off. I sure do love me some sweet potato!

Seriously, this food was damn good! At first when my Jack Daddy arrived, and I saw the onion rings on my burger with the cheese melted over them, I wasn't sure how well that would work, but boy was I wrong! I bit in to that thing slightly sceptical, and came out the other side knowing that life is goooood. The juice burger patty, onion rings, Monterey Jack cheese soaked in Jack Daniel's sauce, oh, such pleasure! I can hand on heart say that this was the one of the best burgers I've ever had, and that is something I don't say lightly! Oh and the fries were pretty bloody beautiful too,
Gareth's walk of shame was much more jam packed, having 2 burger patties, fried onions, cheese, mustard and ketchup. Not only that but he had pizza fries on the side, which were pretty much a meal in themselves. a whole portion of skinny fries, topped with pizza sauce, cheese and pepperoni. Needless to say I obviously had a little nibble of them, delicious! By this point, we were glad we'd decided against a starter, and were so full we couldn't even contemplate dessert (a rarity for us both). Although we did swear to come back and try some of the starters and desserts another time, they sounded far too tempting!

All in all, we were blown away. We love to go places like Red's True Barbecue and Almost Famous, but I think we may have found a new favourite. With our vow to return and try some of the other offerings on the menu, I don't think we will be able to resist for too long! Perhaps I'll go to the gym first, and try and unblock my arteries a little bit first though.
